Enfamil FER-IN-SOL Liquid Ferrous Sulfate Oral Solution U.S.P., 50 mL

Enfamil Fer-In-Sol is a liquid iron supplement for infants and toddlers from birth to two years of age. It helps prevent iron deficiency and provides a concentrated source of elemental iron in convenient oral drops.

Each 1 mL contains 15 mg of elemental iron from ferrous sulfate. The included dispensing device makes it easier to measure and slowly administer the recommended amount into the child’s mouth.

Medicinal ingredient

Each 1 mL contains:

• Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate – 75 mg

• Equivalent to elemental iron – 15 mg

Dosage

For children from birth to two years of age:

• Supplementation dose: Give 0.5–1 mL daily or as directed by a physician.

• Therapeutic dose: Give 2.5 mL daily, divided into three doses, or as directed by a physician.

Therapeutic dosing should only be used under the direction of a healthcare professional.

Directions

Give with food and administer a few hours before or after other medications. Measure the required amount and dispense it slowly into the child’s mouth toward the inside of the cheek.

Store at room temperature between 15°C and 30°C.

Safety warning

There is enough iron in this package to seriously harm a child. Keep this and all medications securely out of reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, contact a poison control centre or seek emergency medical attention immediately.

Constipation, diarrhea or vomiting may occur at the therapeutic dose. Temporary tooth discolouration may be reduced through thorough brushing. Do not use if the safety seal is broken. Always use as directed by a physician and follow the package instructions.
